Great meals are a part of what you need to make your holiday memorable. The local cuisine is influenced by a blend of Spain, Africa and Latin America. Despite being and island Lanzarote does not eat as much fish as we would assume. A lot of the dishes produced have goat along with other ingredients such as rabbit. However there are many restaurants that serve fish such as Parrot fish, snapper and tuna are the most common dishes. There are many different sea food restaurants each offering something a little different from the next and are great for sharing on Lanzarote apartments balconys.
As well as having so much history and beauty, if you?re a foodie this would be the perfect holiday for you. With so many restaurants you are guaranteed to have a memorable meal whilst on your Lanzarote holiday in the sun.
Some local meals you can expect to see in a few of restaurants are ?Pescado a la sal?, fish baked in salt and ?Sancocho Canario? a stew made with dried fish and potatoes. A few other dishes you may find in more than one place, is papas arrugadas. These are wrinkly potatoes boiled in sea water and is always served with a variety of mojo (a traditional Canarian sauce)
Whilst recipes vary from chef to chef you can always guarantee that you?ll be given a choice of at least two of these sauces to pour onto your potatoes.? An example and very popular sauce is the red mojo. It contains the same oil and vinegar base but with the additional kick of chilli and red peppers.
Puchero and Potaje is another dish and is a stew made with lentils, chickpeas, vegetables and meat, we enjoyed this last year whilst on our Lanzarote holidays in a 5 star hotel.
There is a special drink that could go with all your meals, Sangria. It is a wine punch. The national punch served in all pubs and clubs. It consists of fruit soaked in wine and spirits. A light drink to enjoy in such beautiful weather. It is said that El Golfo has some of the nicest sea food restaurants on the Island.?
