?Bill,? Dave Wilson writes, ?I commend you for your recent columns regarding childhood obesity and the consequent health issues, most importantly diabetes. Recently, the Fayetteville Observer published an op-ed I wrote about the diabetes epidemic in our community and the frustrations that diabetes patients experience as they seek specialized treatment. I believe that diabetes awareness needs to be moved to the front burner for the sake of the majority of diabetics that are walking around without knowing of their condition and therefore not being treated. To this end, I have discussed with Larry Keen the need for providing a week of on-campus awareness, testing and professional medical advice for all Fayetteville Technical Community College students wishing to be informed of their possible diabetic condition and treatment options available.
