Temperatures are rising, and that means shorts weather, beach vacations, and grilling. It also means a general feeling of sweatiness and the urge to crank the old air conditioner.
Unless you?re powering your home with alternative energy, chances are you?re getting the electricity for the A/C from the power grid, and here in the U.S. that means predominantly one thing: coal. Those high summer power bills from blasting the air drives up demand for coal, which means more mountaintop removal mining and more air pollution. Boo on that!
